    Description

This First Edition and printing, 1972,
“the face of courage: the rinehart collection of indian photographs”
    with an illustrated
introduction by royal sutton, Old Army Press,
is in excellent condition. A soft cover book, it measures 12" tall, 8-1/2" wide, and ¾” thick. The book is composed of 90 early photographs of Native American leaders and tribesmen and women. They were all taken by Frank A. Rinehart at the 1898 Trans Mississippi and International Exposition in Omaha. Included among the photographs is a rare portrait of Geronimo. There are also pictures of the fairgrounds taken by Rinehart, who was made the Official Photographer of the fair. This is a great book documenting some of the 500
Native American Indians brought to the fair.
